We all know the good ‘ol addage, ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’. And, it’s true. A picture can help tell a story, simplify a complex thought, or add drama to your videos.
In fact, parts of your audience may be visual learners, which mean they’ll remember more of what they see rather than what they hear.
But, if it’s not a picture that’s legal to use, it can be worth a thousand headaches.
Rest assured though, there are works licensed under Creative Commons that allow you to:
- use images in your videos or on your blogs,
- modify them (e.g., add a title, remove the background, etc.)
- and use commercially.
So, if you’re not using the appropriate images, you could be making a BIG mistake.

This is great info, thanks so much! I got to your blog from the Blogher PRO conference page, and I’m excited to read/watch more of your tips. Have been worried about the appropriate way to use images and give credit, as I see it done in so many different ways across the web. What you say makes lots of sense.
I also LOVE the encouragement you offer to video newbies.
Thanks again!
